When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life dies out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
As the development of science and technology upgrading itself at a daily basis, some conventional skills and ways of life have been replaced by the latest ones. In my personal opinion, with the invention of more advanced technologies, there is no point to keep most of the traditional skills and ways of living with only a few exceptions.
It is more sensible and beneficial to adapt to the latest development of human society, which has progressed from the discovery of fire to the invention of the wheel and, till today, to the invention of the internet. It is only sensible that we stop taking horse-driven carriages when the car, which is way faster and convenient than the carriages, has been invented. Moreover, thanks to break-through technologies in the computer as well as the internet, people nowadays can enjoy the convenience of working from home, saving the hassle of traveling to and from work. Employers can also benefit from the latest way of doing things as they can immeasurably curtail overhead costs such as facilities and energy bills.
However, some traditional skills and ways of living, as part of an unique culture in a particular area, are necessary to be preserved. Take hand-made embroidery as an example. Even though the assembly line work can make far more pieces in the same period of time needed for an embroidery work, the craftsmanship can never be the same. However, it is worthy to note that the technology of assembly line work can still be used as a complementary work to accommodate for different needs and budgets.
In a nutshell, the daily progress of science and technology has eliminated most outdated skills and ways of living with very few to be retained.
