With the rapid growth of our economy as well as the acceleration of the development of science and technology, youngsters nowadays are finding themselves enjoying more wealth and health than in the past. Nevertheless, physical wellbeing and material wealth do not bring about the same proportion of joy and pleasure. Instead, it is not uncommon that a large number of young people are suffering from emothional upheaval more often, some even suffer from depression.
The causes of the phenomenon are manifold. In the first place, the emotional upheaval of youngsters might attibuted to the stressful modern lifestyle. On the one hand,the economic growth of China, for example, have brought about unprecedented material wealth and better environment for the new generation of youngsters. On the other hand, the fast paced lifestyle has caused a lot of stress which stem from peer pressure, fierce competition, etc. Secondly, parental neglect and domestic violence play a pivotal role in the wellbeing of young adults.Nowadays, there are a growing number of disfunctional families which are in proportion with the ever growing divorce rates. Young people from such families are suscptible to psychological problems despite of their wealth possession and physical fitness. Lastly, the alienation of interpersonal relationship in the current society might play a role leading to the problem. This is especially true in big cities where people are all preoccupied with their own study and work with less attention paid to interpersonal relations.
Due to the severity of the phnomenon,we have no alternatives but to take immediate steps to address the situation. In the first place, the public awareness of the problem should be hightened so as to give due attention and care to young people. Parents, in particular, should care more about the emotional wellbeing of their children rather than just to shovel their children with money and gifts. Moreover, young people should learn to strike a balance between their life and study. Reaching out to other people and making more friends instead of isolating oneself is a good way to ensure mental wellbeing.

In conclusion, the reasons for the phenomenon are manifold but we can address the problem accordingly.
